​Katana Athletic Performance is a superior program of sports integration because we refine the athlete as a WHOLE.

We combine aspects of mindfulness, martial arts, flexibility training & 'internal work' balanced with the intensity, drive and competitive elements of sports psychology, kinesthetic awareness & peak performance.

These skill sets form the foundation of one cohesive system of movements and principles can be practiced anywhere - anytime.   

Katana Athletics is based on principles from the martial art of Aikido. This kind of (internal and external) training enables direct refinement of athletic ability, mind set and accurate execution of skills.

SOME SCIENCE BASED FACTS OF KATANA ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE :

  • Applying specific cognitive responses minimizes the body's adrenaline and cortisol levels. This keeps homeostatic levels balanced and efficient. When this biochemical balance occurs it enables the feeling of getting 'in the zone' easier and faster. Our techniques help counterbalance the Fight or Flight Syndrome. 

 

  • The mind becomes calm and focused with certain patterns of controlled breathing techniques. This produces alpha frequency brainwaves. These brainwaves have been scientifically proven to create stronger situational awareness, strategic thinking and more creative problem solving. 

  • The rolling techniques we teach for improved mobility stimulate various muscular pressure points along both parts of the spine minimizing spasms and keeps the back and neck muscles more relaxed and loose which improves injury prevention.

The Meaning Of  KATANA 

The Katana is a razor sharp curved sword known for their design, reliability and utility. Each blade is meticulously handmade and unique - no two are the same. Different types of raw metals are blended together to accomplish specific goals: Softer steel allows flexibility and is able to be continually sharpened.

Stronger steel prevents breakage and provides long lasting durability.

During construction, hours upon hours are spent folding, heating and shaping the unfinished metal.  

When completed the final product is a polished, refined masterpiece.
